Mouf is a mixed countershading pattern that always has at least one hard-edged stripe. It lightens and darkens the coat top and bottom, with a mixture of bottom-up and top-down countershading while letting the basecoat show through. There is always a hard edge between the countershading somewhere – it could be on the face, body or even tail – creating similar striped or banded markings to that of badgers, honey badgers, skunks, and red pandas. Shown above is a typical expression with a barrel stripe and banded tail.

Markings are always lighter or darker tones of the base coat, a dark boucle will not have hard white markings and a light boucle will not have dark/black markings.

Mouf is a mix of Loup and Furet genes.

Coverage: Mouf can cover the whole boucle's body but the base coat's colour must be evident.

Design Guide

Pro Tip: For a natural look to Mouf designing, use the dark and light tones already available in the base coat and “move them around” so the dark and light tones are distributed differently and at some point butt up against each other for a hard lined marking, stripe and/or barring. Darken and lighten the coat extra where required for a distinguished look <3
