Loup is a top-down countershading pattern. It lightens and darkens the coat in a pattern similar to that of a wolf; light highlights are usually on the underside, around the eyes and on the eyebrows. Dark areas appear mostly on the face, legs, tail and mane as well as along the dorsal stripe. Expression varies but the top is always dark and the underside is always light. Shown above is a normal expression.

Loup cannot make hard-edged markings, they must be soft/blended.

Shares the same locus as Furet, and combines to make Mouf.

Design Guide

Pro Tip: For a natural look to Loup designing, use the dark and light tones already available in the base coat and “move them around” so the dark tones are along the back and the lighter tones are underneath. Darken and lighten the coat extra where required for a distinguished look <3
